Coastal Veraval brings its own pattern of chest complaints: humidity, dust from the fishing and port trade, and a heavy smoking and tobacco burden. Many patients here have lived with a cough or breathlessness for years, treated with a syrup at a time, without anyone ever measuring what the lungs are actually doing.

Our pulmonology service is led by Dr. Hetal B. Karmata, MD, a gold medalist in pulmonary medicine. The aim is a clear diagnosis first, then a treatment plan you can follow at home.

Tests available on site

Pulmonary function test (PFT)

A simple breathing test that measures how much air your lungs hold and how fast you can move it. It separates asthma from COPD, tracks whether treatment is working, and is often required before surgery. The test takes a few minutes and needs no injection.

Bronchoscopy

A thin flexible camera passed into the airway to look directly at the lungs, take a sample, or clear a blockage. It is used when an X-ray or scan raises a question that needs a definite answer.

Allergy testing

Identifies which common triggers set off your symptoms, so that avoidance becomes practical rather than guesswork.

BIPAP and oxygen therapy

Non invasive breathing support for patients whose lungs need help but who do not require a ventilator, used both during admission and for long term home care planning.
